Saturday Morning Coffee Concert

St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, Church Yard Street, Galway

Cappella Caeciliana, conducted by Donal McCrisken, visited Galway for the first time in June.  We presented a Coffee Concert in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, which dates from the 14th century.

The programme included Exsultet, composed for Cappella Caeciliana by Neil Martin (funded by the UK National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland), including text translated into the Irish language by Rev Gary Hastings, Rector of St Nicholas'.  The choir also performed Stabat Mater by Alissa Firsova, whose Irish premiere the choir (under the direction of Eamonn Dougan) recently presented in Armagh to great acclaim.
